Media Center Student Hours
8:50am – 3:50pm for check in/check out, A.R. Testing, and conducting research
Students with V.I.P. status (see below) may come to the library before school between 8:50am & 9:15am
Circulation Policy
- Each student may check out two books at a time for up to two weeks (students with V.I.P. status – see below – may check out four books at a time)
- A student may renew a book one time.
- Lost books/materials will be paid by the student as soon as possible. Library debt on a student’s account will keep student from attending field trips and other special events at the BMS.
- Students with outstanding debts will have the option to borrow books from our “Second Chance Shelf” until their debts are cleared.

Accelerated Reader Awards/VIP Program
These points are cumulative throughout the year, and students must have an 85% accuracy or higher to be a V.I.P.
50-point Club
* Must have 85% average or higher on AR tests
*Shout out on morning show
*Panther Paw name on board
*Permission to check out FOUR books at a time (must show pass)
*BLUE V.I.P pass-
This pass allows you to come to the library before school between 8:50am & 9:15am (must show pass)
100-point club
* Must have 85% average or higher on AR tests
* Shout out on morning show
* Panther Paw name on board
*Permission to check out FOUR books at a time (must show pass)
*Invitation to quarterly AR Reward Party each period with teacher permission
*SILVER V.I.P pass-
This pass (must show pass), allows you to come to the library before school between 8:50am & 9:15am. It also allows you to come to the library after completing work, with teacher permission, for the purposes of reading or research.
200-point club
* Must have 85% average or higher on AR tests
* Shout out on morning show and name on board
* All the benefits provided with the 50- and 100-point club status
*3D Bookmark
*Engraved medallion presented at the end-of-the-year ceremony
*GOLD V.I.P Pass-
This pass (must show pass) allows you to come to the library, with teacher permission, for the purposes of reading or research and to utilize programs on the computers such as “Cool Math.”
300-point club
* Must have 85% average or higher on AR tests
* Shout out on morning show and name on board
* All the benefits provided with the 200-point club status
*Engraved trophy at the end-of-the-year awards ceremony
*ORANGE V.I.P pass-
This pass (must show pass) gives you permission to eat in the library during lunch.
400-point club
* Must have 85% average or higher on AR tests
* Shout out on morning show and name on board
*Journal awarded on the morning show
*GREEN V.I.P pass
*All the benefits provided with the 300-point club status (must show pass)
500-point Club
*All the benefits provided with the 400-point club status
Any 8th grader earning 500 points or more with an 85% average or higher, will be awarded a wall brick in the media center to paint and leave a LITERACY LEGACY!
Top Earner Awards
The top THREE point-earners will receive recognition awards at the end-of-the-year ceremony.

Book Bowl Team
Students may try out for the BMS Book Bowl Team in October. Students should read and take AR Tests on all the current SSYRA books and be prepared to answer questions about the books. Five members will be selected and attend
AR Home Connect
Accelerated Reader Resources/Renaissance Home Connect improves the school-to-home connection by allowing parents and students to log on to the website and view the student’s reading progress toward their goal. (NOTE: Students must take AR Tests at school and have a teacher sign their reading log.)
