Belleview Middle B

5-5-2-0 Policy for Participation

Belleview Middle School has implemented School-wide guidelines for participation in extra curricular activities including athletics. Any student interested in trying out for a team must meet the following criteria to be eligible for tryouts. If a student is ineligible, they will be notified by the Athletic Director and they will be unable to participate. Eligibility is based on behavior, academics and attendance as stated in the BMS student handbook. This policy is aligned to the eligibility requirements similar to those at the high school level:

1. Students cannot have more than 5 Out of School Suspensions (OSS), In School Suspensions (ISS), bus suspensions or referrals for the current school year.

2. Students cannot have more than 5 UNEXCUSED absences, tardies or checkouts for the current school year.

3. Students must have CUMULATIVE 2.0 GPA. This means that their GPA MUST be at 2.0 or higher overall from 6th grade to their current year at BMS.

4. Students must have ZERO (0) debt owed in Marion County Public Schools. This includes textbook fees, library fees, athletic fees and various fees that have been placed on their student accounts. This includes fees incurred from elementary school as well.

If you have questions regarding this policy, please see the Belleview Middle School handbook or contact the BMS Athletic Director.
